Joseph McRae Presents a 'Dysphoria of Prints' Inspired by 'The Wiz'

Fresh off of competing in the rebooted “Project Runway” series, Joseph McRae is celebrating his label’s 10th anniversary by taking a trip to Oz.

McRae’s Spring 2026 collection, titled “Bloom ’25,” draws inspiration from “The Wiz” (1978) and its overarching message of staying true to oneself. Shown at Mercedes-Benz of Manhattan, McRae’s vibrant designs lit up the monochromatic car dealership with a color palette spanning deep red, fiery orange and forest green. Beyond bold pops of color, mixed patterns (or, in the designer’s own words, a “dysphoria of prints”) defined the collection: Camos accompanied tartans; plaids and polka dots paired up; and various animal prints found a home on puffers and beanies alike.

“I like a lot of sets — give me a matching top and a bottom and we’re good to go,” McRae tells Fashionista. “But with this collection specifically, I worked within the styling to mix the prints and mix the styles and break them up, so the entire collection is exchangeable and versatile within the color palettes and even across them.”

Though McRae presented during New York Men’s Day, his genderless brand aims to “blur the line of masculinity and femininity to create a safe space for daunting creativity and expression,” the designer says.
