Margot Robbie’s New York promo day on Tuesday traced two of the season’s biggest shoe trends, moving from mirrored block-heel mules to strappy, barely-there sandals.
For one stop, Robbie wore Celine by Phoebe Philo’s spring 2014 leather slingback mules. The archival style featured a navy leather upper with a side cutout and oversized silver buckle, set on a metallic block heel that created a mirrored finish.

The mules featured a squared toe and a steep pitch. The actress paired the vintage shoes with a black-and-white printed minidress, oversized shield sunglasses and a structured tote.

Later in the day, she changed into Khaite’s Loulou sandals. The brown napa lambskin style is built from slim tubular straps that fasten at the ankle with a gold buckle, set on a thin mid-heel for a pared-back take on the barely-there sandal trend.

Robbie styled the pair with a strapless reptile-textured corset top, a coordinating waistband and a suede A-line skirt in a rusted caramel tone, accessorized with oversized square sunglasses.

Both choices toyed with optical illusion — one barely there, the other flashing mirrored hardware — while leaning into shoe trends gaining momentum even as the season shifts. Mirrored finishes have been a steady fixture on carpets, most recently with Ciara’s Gianvito Rossi Plexi slingbacks at the MTV VMAs. The pared-down sandal, meanwhile, remains a press-tour staple, seen just last week on Jennifer Aniston in her custom Jimmy Choo slingbacks during “The Morning Show” circuit.
The double outing follows a run of footwear-heavy moments for Robbie as she promotes “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.” Last Thursday, she revisited her viral “Barbie” foot arch in Christian Louboutin’s Iriza pumps, styled with vintage Mugler. One night later, she opted for Aquazzura’s crystal-strapped Love Struck sandals alongside Armani Privé for her film’s London premiere. With stylist Andrew Mukamal leaning into neutral palettes and tactile separates, the shoes have remained a clear through line across her appearances.
Robbie stars opposite Colin Farrell in the romantic-fantasy film, which follows two strangers reliving moments from their past. “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey” opens in theaters Friday.
