DSW Launches on Uber Eats for Same-Day Delivery

Designer Shoe Warehouse (DSW) is the latest footwear retailer to join the Uber Eats platform – allowing customers to order shoes straight from the app and have them delivered in as little as one hour.

Starting today, shoppers in the U.S. can explore DSW’s assortment of men’s, women’s and kids’ shoes and accessories from brands like Adidas, Steve Madden, Blundstone and Goodr directly through the Uber Eats app. Uber One members can access free delivery on eligible orders and other exclusive savings, the company noted.

“Style emergencies are real – and with DSW on Uber Eats, we’re making it easier than ever to look and feel your best, fast,” Hashim Amin, head of retail for North America at Uber, said in a statement. “Whether you forgot your shoes for a weekend getaway or just spotted the perfect pair for a night out, DSW and Uber Eats have you covered.”

This new partnership comes one week after DSW parent company Designer Brands Inc. chief executive officer Doug Howe said the company had “successfully” launched its partnership with DoorDash, which could be a source of new customer acquisition. “While it’s early in this relationship, we’re encouraged that approximately 85 percent of our transactions from the DoorDash marketplace so far represent customers that are new to DSW,” Howe told analysts on the company’s second quarter earnings call last week.

Along with DSW, Dick’s Sporting Goods joined the Uber Eats platform in June to offer users in the app access to its network of 800 stores.

For retailers like DSW and Dick’s offering this service is another way to bring consumers ultra-fast delivery as more companies aim to keep up with Amazon.

“We believe that speed and convenience is key to our omni-channel experience, and we’re excited to launch our partnership with Uber Eats as an extension of that philosophy,” Scott Casciato, vice president of omni-channel fulfillment and strategy at Dick’s, said in June. “When those moments arise where new gear is needed, this partnership with Uber Eats extends our capabilities to give our athletes convenient shopping to get the products they need fast and in a way that is convenient for them.”

Last year, Allbirds joined Uber Eats, while Academy Sports + Outdoors teamed up with DoorDash, offering same-day delivery in less than an hour on average. In 2023, JD Sports and Finish Line also joined forces with Instacart for same-day delivery.
