Gucci confirms new CEO

Gucci has appointed Francesca Bellettini as president and CEO of Gucci. Bellettini will report to Luca de Meo, Kering’s new CEO. Bellettini will be tasked with turning the Italian fashion house around. She first joined Kering in 2003 and most recently served as Kering’s deputy CEO. As part of this change, Kering announced that the functions of Kering deputy CEO will be eliminated. {Kering}

Hermès defeats class action over Birkin access

For a second time, Hermès has defeated a lawsuit alleging it violates antitrust law by forcing buyers to spend thousands of dollars on its products before they can purchase one of its Birkin bags. U.S. District Judge James Donato in San Francisco on Wednesday rejected claims by three Hermès shoppers in California that the company was suppressing competition. The judge dismissed the proposed class action with prejudice, which means it cannot be refiled. {Reuters}

The New York Times profiles Edward Enninful

Edward Enninful, British Vogue‘s former editor in chief, introduced his new magazine, 72, to fashion’s power players at a party held during New York Fashion Week. In a profile written by The New York Times‘s Vanessa Friedman, Enninful shared that Vogue was never his end game and that he wanted his next endeavor to “disrupt.” Enninful’s 72 magazine doesn’t have any ads, and Julia Roberts fronted its debut cover. {The New York Times/paywalled}

Which fashion capital gets the most government support?

For New York Fashion Week, championing fashion has not been a priority of the Trump administration. In London, members of parliament debated the “cultural contribution” of London Fashion Week, and its role as a tool for diplomacy, soft power and national identity. In Milan, Adolfo Urso, Minister for Business and Made In Italy, pledged €250 million in direct government support to the Italian fashion industry in 2025. The Lede Company expands talent division to Paris

The Lede Company is expanding its talent division to Paris as it continues to strengthen its foothold in Europe, WWD reported. The agency is known for pioneering the integration between brand communications and talent management. It plans to use its French office as a strategic hub to support brands in developing impactful and culturally relevant talent strategies, as well as accompany its clients when activating projects, campaigns and appearances. {WWD/paywalled}

Park Avenue Armory to honor André Leon Talley with a caftan salon

Park Avenue Armory’s Making Space Public Programming Series is hosting a salon honoring the legacy of André Leon Talley with “Caftan: Style as Liberation and Cultural Exchange.” The event includes panel discussions with industry historians, designers, educators and community activists that examine the role of fashion as a tool for resistance, cultural preservation and cross-cultural dialogue. The salon will be held on Sept. 28 from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and tickets are $35. {Fashionista inbox}

Vogue announces designers for Vogue World: Hollywood

On Thursday, Vogue announced the participating designers for Vogue World: Hollywood, set for Oct. 26. McQueen, Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, Alaïa, Marc Jacobs, Valentino and Balmain will team up with costume designers Colleen Atwood, Milena Canonero, Ruth E. Carter, Catherine Martin, Arianne Phillips, Sandy Powell, Jacqueline West and Shirley Kurata. Each house will team up with participating costume designers to create original costumes from classic movies, as well as reimagined pieces that draw inspiration from iconic films. {Fashionista inbox}
