Texas A&M’s 41-40 win over Notre Dame reeled in 9.4 million viewers

Texas A&M’s Week 3 41-40 road win over Notre Dame serves as second-year head coach Mike Elko’s signature victory, and the first ranked road win since the 2014 season. The Aggies were desperate to prove that the failed expectations of the past would stay in the past, which appears to be the case this early in the year.

After trailing 40-34 with just over two minutes remaining, starting quarterback Marcel Reed dinked and dunked his way down the field, which, after several penalties, set up a 4th & Goal situation that resulted in transfer tight end Nate Boerkircher making the catch of his career, reeling in the game-tying touchdown, leading to kicker Randy Bond’s game-winning extra point.

Receiving substantial praise from most of the major college football media outlets, Texas A&M is finally being taken seriously as a College Football Playoff contender, and while we are only three games into the season, this win should provide season-long confidence heading into SEC play.

While the Aggies enter the bye week looking to rest and recover before shifting focus to No. 22 Auburn, Notre Dame is looking to earn its first win of the year, hosting Purdue this weekend. Just four days after Saturday’s game, the final viewership numbers were released, showing that Texas A&M vs. Notre Dame reeled in 9.4 million views from both NBC and Peacock (streaming) combined, which is highly impressive given the competition from other games.

If Texas A&M stays undefeated entering Baton Rouge to face LSU on October 29, these numbers could be matched or surpassed, but that will be tough to do given the massive Aggie and Fighting Irish fan bases that will consistently deliver.
