Alison Bringé’s career has spanned New York Fashion Week’s many eras: She remembers when it took place at the Bryant Park tents, followed by its move to Lincoln Center. She also recalls fashion week’s pre-email days, when guests would RSVP to shows via fax machines and be forced to wait in long lines during check-in.
“When you showed up at fashion week, you’d have to check in with someone who had a clipboard, and they’d write your seating assignment on a post-it or a postcard,” she told Steph on The Fashionista Network. (Watch it here!) “You had to not only arrive like 40 minutes before, but then you had to stand in this ridiculous queue. It was just really another world.”
With that in mind, there are perhaps few fashion week developments as monumental as the use of software platform Launchmetrics (formerly known as Fashion GPS). It’s not only made the RSVP and check in processes far more efficient, but it’s also using data to measure the success of fashion events and calculate media impact value, among many other capabilities.
As Launchmetrics’ Chief Marketing Officer, Bringé sees in real time how the platform has revolutionized the industry.
“All of the rankings, like who was the best show during fashion week, who went viral on social media, all of those metrics are coming out of Launchmetrics,” Bringé explained. “But the most important side and role that Launchmetrics plays during fashion week is all of the support of event organization.” To date, 95% of major fashion shows use the software, she said.
Naturally, the company is always updating its software to stay ahead of brand needs, such as exploring artificial intelligence.
“It almost makes me feel guilty because I have become so numb to AI because we’ve been working on AI for the last 10 years,” Bringé said. “The media impact value algorithm that we use to assign the dollar amount to every post interaction or article is actually an AI-driven algorithm, and we’re always training it.”
In the full interview, she discussed key industry shifts she’s observed and ways fashion students can familiarize themselves with Launchmetrics in preparation of entering the industry. She also shared the biggest takeaways from the NYFW Spring 2026 season so far.
