Richard Quinn Invites Guests to 'a Night at the Opera' for Spring 2026

Upon arriving at the venue for Richard Quinn’s Spring 2026 show, I felt enveloped by a particular air of regalness. Rather than the quaint gardens and university halls that had served as the settings for my earlier shows at London Fashion Week, this one took place at an opulent church just a few minutes down the road from Westminster Abbey. The many guests shuffling up the stone stairway in giant tulle-and-crystal-covered ballgowns only added to the royal effect.

The show, originally slated for a 7:00 p.m. start time, began a few minutes after 8:00 p.m., leaving glamorously done-up attendees crowded on the outdoor steps, casually mingling with others or elegantly crouching in the overflow of their taffeta princess-like dresses. The delay created a charmingly stereotypical portrayal of what someone who doesn’t work in fashion might think fashion week regularly looks like.

Once the doors opened, the then-very eager showgoers entered the space to find a full orchestra positioned on a stage decorated with hundreds — if not thousands — of white and pink hydrangeas and roses planted from the floor all the way to the ceiling. My seatmates and I agreed, the grandiose ambiance made this one of the only runway presentations we’d consider worth such a wait.

“This collection is presented in a space dedicated to sounds, and contemplates the expressive interplay between fashion and music,” read the show notes. “Like players in an orchestra, each garment falls into a collective whole, resounding with the musicality of its surroundings.”

By the time Naomi Campbell walked onto the runway to open the show, Quinn had successfully made the entire audience forget about any inconvenience the event’s holdup had caused.

Wearing a fitted black velvet floor-length dress equipped with a structured, camellia-adorned capelet, the supermodel set the tone for the presentation of a sophisticated collection of tastefully bejeweled gowns. The collection includes round-neck, long-sleeve Mother-of-the-bride-like dresses; off-the-shoulder bohemian-style looks;  and classic pastry-shaped bridal attire, complete with voluminous veils and fresh bouquets.

Beyond the white and black ensembles, Quinn also flexed his color muscles, incorporating deep navy blues, fiery reds, rich purples and soft, pistachio-like greens into the lineup, showcasing everything from glittering mini dresses to exaggerated tea-length silhouettes. Most of the runway looks were punctuated with polished updos, long black opera gloves and dramatic red lips.

To conclude the captivating collection, the full band of strings, brass and other musicians played a symphonic rendition of Erasure’s “A Little Respect,” rhythmically guiding the models in a striking finale.
