Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Early pickups to consider going into Week 4

We’re into Week 3 of the 2025 NFL season and fantasy football managers are seeing what happens when there’s a lack of scoring. Last week, we saw an unusually high number of touchdowns and big plays, which led to plenty of fantasy points. This week, that’s been harder to come by.

That’ll make it a bit more difficult to identify who to look to add going into Week 4 but we’re going to give it a go. Below are some early fantasy football waiver wire pickups to consider.

Tre Tucker, WR, Raiders (3% rostered on Yahoo)

Tucker spent all afternoon as Geno Smith’s favorite target against the Commanders on Sunday. Tucker hauled in eight of nine targets for 145 yards and three TDs, good for 36.9 fantasy points. He’s got a very good shot of being the top scoring wide receiver in Week 3. Is Tucker going to do this every week? No, definitely not. But the Raiders should be in enough good game scripts — forced to throw while trailing — and Tucker is seeing plenty of snaps. He’s going to be a top add this week in all formats.

Elic Ayomanor, WR, Titans (21% rostered)

We’re going to run it back this week with Ayomanor, who has strung together back-to-back weeks with a touchdown. What’s more notable is it was another down week for WR Calvin Ridley, a player we all believed would emerge as a solid mid-round value before the season. He’s struggled to build chemistry with rookie QB Cam Ward, who is looking Ayomanor’s way more frequently, most notably in the red zone. Ayomanor finished Sunday with four catches for 38 yards and the score, giving him 11.8 fantasy points on the week. The rookie wideout is another solid add in deeper PPR formats.

Calvin Austin III, WR, Steelers (17% rostered)

The Steelers’ passing game got off to a hot start in Week 1 and we all thought Aaron Rodgers would get this unit headed in the right direction. We were wrong. Well, sort of. Pittsburgh’s passing game wasn’t anything special vs. the Patriots, but the team did eek out a 21-14 win. Rodgers only threw for 139 yards but did have two TDs — one going to Austin. It was his second of the season and the second time Austin cleared 10+ fantasy points in PPR formats. He only had three catches for 34 yards, so we’re not talking heavy volume here. But Austin is the clear No. 2 WR behind DK Metcalf and we know Rodgers likes to hone in on receivers in certain spots. Austin could turn into the preferred red-zone target at WR.
