Lindsey Thornburg is seeking a skilled Cutting Assistant to join our NYC production team. This role focuses on shearling, leather, and fur, and requires prior experience or certification working with these materials.
Role Overview:
You’ll support our production process by cutting high-end materials, assisting with general studio tasks, and ensuring quality control across all stages of garment prep. Ideal candidates are hands-on, precise, and experienced in working with heavyweight specialty textiles, shearling, and leather.
Key Responsibilities:
● Cut shearling, leather, and fur according to patterns, specs, and markers
● Assist with materials prep, steaming, trimming, and finishing standards
● Support sourcing of trims, tools, and production materials
● Maintain a clean, organized workspace
● Work closely with pattern makers and sewers to meet production goals
Requirements:
● Experience with shearling, leather, and/or fur (certification or hands-on industry experience)
● Strong understanding of garment construction and cutting techniques & familiarity with pattern-making and production processes
● Comfortable navigating NYC’s Garment District
● Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented
This role is Part- time with the ability to join our team full time; the starting pay is $19 per hour.
