Chaotic Layering Is the London Fashion Week Street Style Trend to Try Now

Outfit decisions can be difficult: Skirt or pants? Gloves or sleeves? Scarf or tie? Leg warmers or tights? London Fashion Week showgoers have the cozily delightful answer to such conundrums: Do it all. Pushing against the limits of minimalism, chaotic layering is becoming the standout street style trend of the season.

Scanning the looks outside the London presentations, one might wonder if the dress code memo was something like, “Channel Joey Tribbiani’s ‘Could I be wearing any more clothes?’ moment.” But instead of Chandler Bing’s sweater vests, the fashion crowd piled on layers of skirts, pants and dresses; draped scarves atop their already jacket-clad shoulders (or tied them on in place of belts); put shorts, leg warmers or socks over tights; tied cardigans around other sweaters; wore multiple shirt collars (and even neckties) beneath dresses; transformed bras and corsets into outerwear and generally did the absolute most when it came to getting dressed.

The effect was quirky, chaotic and playful — not to mention practical, given this time of year’s all-over-the-place temperatures. Keep scrolling to see all the standout layered looks from outside the London Spring 2026 shows.
