Vogue First! Get Exclusive 24-Hour Access to Shop Alex Mill x Margaux

If fall shoe shopping is top of mind, now’s your chance to find your sole mate with Alex Mill x Margaux’s debut footwear collaboration. The three-piece capsule, starting at $325, represents the first partnership between the two New York City-based brands, who found creative harmony in a trio of designs that reflect their shared appreciation for effortless polish and use of color. Vogue readers get the opportunity to shop the entire range for a full 24 hours before the official public launch on September 30.

Within the edit, you’ll discover goes-with-anything autumnal offerings, consisting of a flat slipper, a kitten-heeled ankle boot, and a demure point mule—all inspired by the minimalist ’90s mood that both labels regularly pay tribute to. “My go-to, everyday shoes are effortless without losing personality,” Alexa Buckley, co-founder of Margaux, tells Vogue. “They’re the shoes I can start and end my day in—elevating an outfit without creating fuss. This collection captures exactly that: an easy mule, a sexy heel, and a perfect boot. Each has thoughtful details and real personality, but they’re also true wardrobe workhorses.”

Sarah Pierson, co-founder of Margaux, also believes in versatile accessorizing—a sensibility that’s reflected in the trio of designs. “My most-worn (and best-loved) shoes are versatile and comfortable, with just enough perspective to finish an outfit—think: a minimalist sandal in summer, a tailored loafer in fall, or a western-style boot in winter,” she says. “The styles from our collaboration speak that same language—they’re style chameleons, with a point of view on everyday elegance that feels entirely their own.”

The co-founders’ cohesive vision is what made the collaboration such a natural fit. “I’ve been sketching outfits my whole adult life. Every time, I sketch the same shoe,” Somsack Sikhounmuong, creative director of Alex Mill, says in a press release. “Either a slip-on or a pointed boot or a little heel. The collaboration that we came up with is a nod to that. They’re very simple shoes that will go with every single outfit you have. There’s a cleanliness and an ease of line and shape, which I think the team at Margaux executes so beautifully.”

Fabrications include plenty of seasonal tried-and-trues, such as velvet, suede, satin, and sumptuous calf leather—in a mix of neutrals and subtle color pops, ranging from go-to black and brown hues, to a dreamy slate blue and a rich burgundy. “We wanted to strike the just-right balance of wearable and whimsical, including staple hues like espresso and black in gorgeous nappa and suede, and of-the-moment shades of blue and burgundy,” says Pierson. “I love the interplay between the materials—the sheen of the satin, the richness of color on the suede, the soft touch of the nappa. It’s a study in material as much as a study in color.”
