The end of the academic year for IED Istituto Europeo di Design is the perfect occasion to showcase the talent that has been forged throughout the different training courses in the classrooms. This year, IED Fashion Graduate Events explored different ways of celebrating fashion: from classic catwalks in emblematic locations such as ancient royal palaces, art galleries or train stations, immersive installations during major industry events such as Pitti Uomo in Florence or Videocittà in Rome to short distance presentations to discover the creative world of each designer.
Each event has presented proposals that show a clear vision of a committed generation that questions identities, celebrates differences and preserves artisan tradition. An occasion to celebrate the end of one stage and mark the beginning of another challenging and very exciting one.
Intergalactic at Pitti Uomo
Intergalactic was a site-specific project curated by Bill Kouligas, an artist, musician and designer, presented by IED and C2C Festival in collaboration with Mirror Digital Agency.
The immersive installation presented during Pitti Uomo 108 in June 2025 brought together fashion, sound design, technology, visual arts and graphic design, transforming the space of the former Teatro dell’Oriuolo -now part of IED Firenze- into a unique sensory experience. The work is the result of a collective project involving students from the IED campuses in Italy and Spain, coming from various disciplines and coordinated by Kouligas himself.
IED Barcelona: Fashioners of the World
In its 21st edition, IED Barcelona’s Fashion Show saw the 25 best collections by final-year students, the year with the highest number of graduates so far, hit the runway at the Royal Palace of Pedralbes.
An international jury awarded five Fashioners of the World prizes in recognition of the quality of the collections: Best Fashion Collection honoring Franca Sozzani and given by an international jury; Best Fashion Film by film director Isabel Coixet; Best Fashion Shooting by photographer Manuel Outumuro; Best Fashion Illustration by artist Jordi Labanda; and IEDxCommons Impact Award, given to the collection with the greatest impact in terms of sustainability, good use of technology, heritage value, inclusion, proximity and craftsmanship.
IED Milano: Unfold
IED Milano Fashion School transformed into an exhibition space, welcoming the public into a landscape of plural languages, unsettled perspectives and visual and sensorial reflections that took shape through the graduation collections.
During two days, visitors could discover 55 projects as fragments of a collective narrative, interweaving memory, imagination and research. Structured into five thematic sections — Onirico, Echo, Syntesis, Astratto, Organico — Unfold became a topography of gazes, where each work is a passage, each sign a question. A final selection of collections was presented to the public during Milano Fashion Week with a groundbreaking fashion performance called UNSTAGE. Check it out here.
IED Torino: The Perfect Match
IED Torino decided, once again, to present their graduate collections with a fashion film: The Perfect Match. The film takes fashion beyond conventional spaces, choosing the tennis courts of the Circolo della Stampa Sporting in Turin as an unconventional runway for the thesis collections of 10 emerging designers. Directed by Ivan Cazzola and produced by Studio Comodo64, the project presents fashion as a tool for the contamination and reinvention of spaces and imaginaries, weaving together aesthetics and design in a dialogue with the world of sport.
IED Roma: Humanae
As part of the official program of the eighth edition of Videocittà — the Festival of Vision and Digital Culture — IED Roma presented their graduate collections of fashion and jewelry design in a fashion show in a dialogue with the interactive installation Humanae by MACHINEZERO.
Held in one of the city’s most iconic settings, the Gazometro Ostiens, the interactive installation was created by Enrico Forghieri and Lorenzo Cordioli and produced in collaboration with the Valmontone Cultural Hub, managed by DiSCo Lazio with artistic direction by Davide Paterna, and curated by Michele Lotti for Videocittà.
IED Madrid: Avant Défilé
IED Madrid proposed a special graduate event: Avant Défilé. For one day, students showcased their collections in a showroom format, and the public had the opportunity to get an up-close look at their design proposals. It offered a more comprehensive view of the conceptual, technical and creative work behind each collection.
A selected jury composed of professionals and alumni selected 12 young designers presented their final fashion collections during Madrid Fashion Week in September. Take a look at IED Madrid’s Fashion Show!
IED Kunsthal: Graduate Show
Located in the heart of Bilbao, IED Kunsthal occupies a former paper factory, where young designers are trained to develop their skills and create innovative solutions that go beyond convention. Their compromise and unexpected spirit were showcased during the Degree Show in June — a collective exhibition featuring projects in graphic, interior or product design along with a special fashion show.
IED Cagliari: Waiting Room
In collaboration with RFI (Rete Ferroviaria Italiana), IED Cagliari transformed the city’s Central Station into the setting for its annual fashion show. Inspired by the concept “Waiting Room” — understood as both physical and temporal — the graduates presented their collections as a metaphor for their professional journey. A new destination awaits, as they stand on the platform, ready to embark on the future ahead.
