When it comes to mastering the art of the travel wardrobe, it’s no surprise that our favorite fashion insiders also moonlight as packing pros. In My Packing Style, we tap some of the most well-traveled people we know for a peek inside their travel bags and vacation wardrobes to see how they take their style on the road. You’ve bookmarked the trip, you’ve screenshotted the outfits; now, a look at how it all comes together
In its most archetypal form, the allure of French girl fashion lies in its simplicity: It’s the idea of a few well-made staples that mix and match and look effortlessly elegant with the swipe of a lipstick. This same reason is also why it travels well. Clara Cornet, Instagram’s EMEA fashion partnerships manager (and native Parisian), knows this—her on-the-go wardrobe is the very picture of pared-back polish. With Paris Fashion Week in full swing and jet-setters flocking to the capital, who better to give us some insight into what a travel capsule version of this much-bookmarked style looks like?
“I’m very practical and pragmatic in my packing approach,” explains Cornet. Easy essentials that can take on many forms (and many outfits) are her go-to, no matter the destination. In practice, this means ultra-soft wool trousers that can be worn on the plane and to a meeting when she lands; classic Chanel slingbacks and Ray-Ban Wayfarers for final touches; and, of course, several stripes of both the pinstripe and Breton variety.

She recently got back from a trip to Arles, in the South of France, where she put her packing philosophy to the test for days spent biking around the city center and catching up on exhibitions from the photography festival—so of course, we had to pry. Ahead, Cornet walks us through her travel style, her favorite vacation-ready brands, and the one wardrobe workhorse that you’ll always find in her suitcase.
Are you a pre-packer or a throw-in-and-go type?
I love packing very much ahead, it’s actually an obsession of mine. I could have my suitcase ready a full week before a trip. That way I’m much more relaxed and can focus on travel activities and building up an itinerary!
Do you pack in outfits?
I admire the travelers that pack full outfits ahead; I wish I could be one of them, but I’m not as skilled. Instead, I bring super versatile items that I can wear on repeat, styled in many different ways and layered for all types of weather.
