Like the ultimate bellwether of change, Nicole Kidman just celebrated the collection debut of newly minted Chanel creative director Matthieu Blazy in Paris with a hair transformation.

Kidman arrived at the 2026 ready-to-wear show on Monday with freshly trimmed bangs, just hours after she was announced as a returning ambassador for the brand.

From a slicked bob with muddy roots to frizzy ginger-colored curls, Kidman’s tried her hand — more accurately, her head — at many hairstyles over the years, but it’s been a while since she’s sported bangs.

Outside the Chanel show, Kidman posed with the front pieces of her blond hair cut unevenly above her eyebrows; the shortest strands finished at the halfway point on her forehead. Longer pieces reached the tops of her cheekbones, fluttering out like wings.

In the past, the “Babygirl” lead has partnered with hairstylist Adir Abergel, whose client list includes Anne Hathaway, Charlize Theron and Gwendoline Christie. Abergel famously styled Kidman’s brushed-back bob for the Met Gala in May. Speaking with WWD, Abergel’s team confirmed he was behind Kidman’s hair transformation for the Chanel show, too.

“We were so excited to have Nicole going back home to Chanel,” Abergel told WWD, adding that Kidman’s hair was inspired by the 1970s. “Soft texture, lived-in movement and that iconic French-girl nonchalance.”

Kidman’s daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret, accompanied her on Monday, donning denim just like their mom. Many other A-list attendees descended upon the runway venue, including Penélope Cruz, Carrie Coon, Margot Robbie Naomi Campbell, Tilda Swinton and Ayo Edebiri to welcome the Blazy era of Chanel.

Indeed, the event was also a harbinger of Kidman’s renewed partnership with the illustrious house, as well as Edebiri’s first. The “Eyes Wide Shut” actress previously starred in a campaign directed by Baz Luhrmann for Chanel’s No.5 fragrance in 2004. In a statement shared with WWD, Kidman said: “As someone who has such an appreciation for haute couture, I am so looking forward to witnessing Matthieu’s vision for the oldest haute couture house still in operation and having the opportunity to wear what I know will be gorgeous creations.”

She then added: “Chanel has always been ahead of the curve, shining a smart and gracious light on women, and I am sure Matthieu will be no exception, just like Karl did in his time.”
