On Monday evening, Thom Browne delivered perhaps his most otherworldly fashion week presentation yet. In an ornate ballroom at the Hôtel de Maisons in Paris, the designer cast a mix of intergalactic “aliens” and humans to debut his latest collection.
Browne initially hinted at the unearthly theme on social media over the weekend, sharing an image of a UFO flying over the Pont Royal with the caption, “We come in peace.”

On the runway, models posing as classic cartoon-like martians wore giant glittering bobbleheads bedazzled with green crystals while wearing the brand’s signature suiting, but with extra arm and leg openings to accommodate the space creatures’ additional limbs — because, obviously.
Each being that walked the show also held a futuristic digital paddle labeled look numbers, allowing front-row clients to mark down which ensembles they were interested in purchasing later on.
Also of note this season was the score, composed by Ben Brunnemer, who mixed everything from “Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft (The Recognized Anthem of World Contact Day)” by Carpenters to melodic cityscapes and, most interestingly, Minion noises (yes, as in the little yellow animations from the children’s movie “Despicable Me”).
Even with the playful topic at hand, Browne still showed off his expert construction skills via crisp multicolor three-piece (sometimes even four- or five-piece) suits, massively oversized and deconstructed jackets with sky-high shoulder pads and detached sleeves, intentionally creased cloud-like bubble skirts and silver sequin-embroidered trompe l’oeil gowns.
The show closed with one of the aliens wearing an all-green outfit with many extra pant legs and blazer sleeves sewn on, finished with Browne’s classic red, white and blue stripes.
