Is Taylor Swift Finally Paying Attention to the Fashion Industry's Buzziest Indie Designers?

Taylor Swift may have just worn her most in-the-know fashion look yet.

While appearing on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” in New York City on Wednesday evening, the singer and songwriter stepped into a two-piece look by Wiederhoeft, a New York-based independent brand known for its impressive craftsmanship, theatrical energy and, more specifically, its corsetry. (The label was also a runner-up in the 2024 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund and was nominated for the CFDA Emerging Designer award in 2024.)

Swift’s ensemble, styled by Joseph Cassell, is a perfect pick for her “The Life of a Showgirl” press run. The strapless, tightly cinched bodice includes padded hips, creating an accentuated figure, and is complemented by a matching mini skirt. Both pieces are covered in a pink, green and black floral brocade, tying back to new lyrics like, “Thank you for the lovely bouquet” and previously dropped Easter eggs, such as the fanciful bathtub filled with a blooming arrangement of flowers at her Spotify pop-up in Manhattan last week.

Swift’s sequin-embroidered shoes are also a natural choice for this era. Her four-inch, pink-toned Aquazzura heels feature vintage-inspired scalloped shapes across the body of the shoe, replicating a similar appearance to the many showgirl-esque feather fans the artist has been using in her album imagery.

Although Swift is fully immersed in her latest era, the pop culture historian and Swiftie in me can’t help but notice the “Reputation”-coded details of the outfit. Her chunky brown, black and white rhinestoned choker by David Morris almost looks snakeskin-like from a short distance — emulating the key reptilian motif of the 2017 album (which has yet to have its own “Taylor’s Version” rollout).

The “Actually Romantic” singer completed the look with her signature sharp winged eyeliner, blush-less cheeks and a natural pink lip.
