Why an opposing coach said about Utes commit LaMarcus Bell – Deseret News

Utah running back commit LaMarcus Bell delivered on a big stage last week, leading Lake Oswego High to a dominant win over Tualatin High in Oregon high school football action.

That kept the Lakers unbeaten at 5-0 in a contest that featured two of the top five teams in MaxPreps’ rankings of Oregon high school football.

Bell was outstanding in the win, rushing for 248 yards and four touchdowns on 17 carries, according to the Oregon School Activities Association.

That’s good enough for a 14.6 yard per-carry average.

His performance had Tualatin coach Dom Ferraro singing Bell’s praises.

“It’s amazing to watch Bell on film, and then when you see him in person, you’re like, ‘Oh, OK,’” Ferraro told OSAA. “It kind of confirms everything you think. Hard to bring down, explosive. We were tackling high. You just can’t tackle a guy like that high.”

Bell scored on runs of 1, 50, 6 and 12 yards in the contest, helping Lake Oswego pile up 520 yards of total offense in a win that helped reinvigorate a Lakers offense that had its share of struggles the previous two weeks.

“The last couple games, we had a couple new guys come in, so we were just getting the team chemistry down,” Bell told OSAA. “But this game, it’s league, we turned it on.

“We knew what we could do on offense. We knew we could dominate. We weren’t showing that the last couple games, so we knew this game we had to show that. Put a statement on the state, let them know we’re coming.”

It’s the second straight year that Bell has gone off against Tualatin. Last year, he had 247 rushing yards and three touchdowns against the Timberwolves, per OSAA.
