Cam Newton was a new breed of quarterback when he got to the NFL,

Blending speed with power, Newton was a unique force. While the league had seen dual-threat quarterbacks before, Newton's physicality was special, allowing him to take the league by storm.

Newton played 11 seasons in the NFL, splitting time between the and the . The quarterback led Carolina to a Super Bowl in 2015, but they lost to the .

Newton's rookie season was one of the best in recent memory. He threw for 4,051 yards, ran for 706, and had a combined 35 touchdowns, with 14 coming on the ground. Newton won the MVP Award in 2015. That season, he threw for 3,837 yards with 35 touchdowns and added 636 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.

How many kids does Cam Newton have?

Newton has nine kids. He had his first son, Chosen Sebastian, on December 24, 2015. His most recent kid was born in the fall of 2025. Newton and the baby's mother decided to keep the name a secret for now, but did reveal that the youngest child is a little boy.

Cam Newton children

Newton has nine children. He had four with his former girlfriend Kia Proctor. Chosen Sebastian was born on Christmas Eve in 2015. The couple then welcomed daughter Sovereign-Dior Cambella on February 3, 2017. Their third child, son Camidas Swain, was born on July 6, 2018. Newton and Proctor's final child together, Cashmere Saint, was born on September 30, 2019. Proctor and Newton separated in 2020.

Newton and photographer LaReina Shaw had a child on July 4, 2019. They welcomed their son Caesar Lorenzo. Newton was still with Proctor at the time and didn’t go public on social media about Caesar until 2021.

Newton has also helped raise children from his partners’ previous relationships. Proctor's first child, Shakira, was born in February 2007, while Shaw has an older son named Jaden, born in February 2006.

Newton and his girlfriend Jasmin Brown have been together since 2022. They welcomed a daughter in March 2024, followed by a son in October 2025.

Cam Newton partner: Jazmyn 'Jazzy' Brown

Brown is a comedian and actress. She is mainly known for acting in projects from Tyler Perry that have aired on BET+, including "Zatima" and "Caught Up." 

Brown is also a stand-up comedian and internet personality. She developed a character on Instagram, Taya Turnup, that took social media by storm. Brown said that she based the character on women she knew when growing up in South Florida. The character got so popular that when she would do stand-up shows, she would do two sets. Brown would open as herself, then take a break, then do a second set as Turnup. 

She and Newton were first spotted together in 2022.

Who is Kia Proctor?

Proctor is Newton's ex-girlfriend and the mother of four of his children. They met in 2012, and eventually Proctor moved to Atlanta to live with Newton. The couple dated for five years and split when Newton got another woman, Shaw, pregnant.

She said in her YouTube video titled "Truth," “He had a baby outside of our relationship that I was not okay with, and we were not married. So I’m like, ‘I’m not about to deal with this,’ because I thought what we had was something way more special than the way you’re treating it. And I felt like I had no choice but to leave. I had to choose me and my kids over what he was about to put me through.”

Proctor went on to detail their co-parenting relationship, talking about how they alternate weeks and have a good system worked out. "So, here we are. I think the kids are great. Like, they’re in a great space. I try to… I mean, I don’t know, I just try to make sure that they don’t go without and that they’re good mentally. And we have a great co-parenting schedule, like we do good with co-parenting. I feel like we do the best we can, and we make it work."

Cam Newton dad: Cecil Newton Sr. 

Newton Sr. is a former football player and Pentecostal bishop and pastor. He went to Savannah State and went undrafted in 1983. While his son, Cam, is known as a quarterback, Cecil Sr. was a safety. He was a preseason participant with the in 1983 and the in 1984, but was cut before the regular season in both instances. 

Cecil Sr. is most known for his involvement in Cam's scam at Auburn. While college football players now have NIL legislation that allows them to be compensated to play college football publicly, that didn't exist when Newton was at Auburn in 2010. Cecil Sr. was accused of seeking substantial sums of money in return for his son to play football.

Officials from Mississippi State said that Cecil Sr. had said, "It would take more than a scholarship" for Cam to attend their school. The allegations were that Cecil Sr. had a representative doing all of the contact for him, but that he was involved. It resulted in Cam being declared ineligible for Auburn, but he was quickly reinstated when the evidence showed his father was working on his own, not with his son or Auburn University. Despite the controversy, Newton still won the national championship and Heisman Trophy that season and didn't have to vacate either accomplishment.

Cam Newton mom: Jackie Newton

Jackie is a former educator who followed Cecil and became ordained. She and her husband are co-pastors. Before finding her religious path, Jackie was an educator, and also had a job at AT&T. She is the founder of M.A.D.E, which is Mothers and Daughters Excelling, an outreach program to support women and girls.

Cam Newton brother: Cecil Newton Jr.

Cecil is Cam's older brother. While Cam played quarterback, Cecil was an offensive lineman, typically playing guard or center. He went to Tennessee State University. While Cecil Jr. wasn't drafted, he made it to the NFL, splitting time between the , , and . He largely spent time on practice squads, but was in the league from 2009 to 2012.

Cam Newton brother: Caylin Newton

Caylin is the youngest of Newton's siblings. He played wide receiver in college. He started out at Howard, then had a year at Auburn before finishing up his career at William and Mary, stepping away from football in 2023. Caylin finished his career at William and Mary with 38 receptions for 568 yards and three touchdowns in 2022.
