Unilever sells Kate Somerville to Rare Beauty Brands

Unilever has sold Kate Somerville to Rare Beauty Brands, the conglomerate announced on Tuesday. The Kate Somerville brand includes skin care, body care and a clinic on Melrose Place, Los Angeles. Unilever first acquired Kate Somerville in 2015. Rare Beauty Brands also owns Patchology and Dot Dot Dash. Financial terms were not disclosed, though the transaction is expected to close in Q4 of 2025, subject to regulatory approvals. {Unilever}

Vivienne Westwood’s granddaughter criticizes Riyadh Fashion Week deal

After Vivienne Westwood announced it would headline Riyadh Fashion Week, the late designer’s granddaughter Cora Corré said the brand’s decisions “do not align with the values or wishes” of her grandmother. Corré, the co-founder of the Vivienne Foundation, said that the charity will launch a range of T-shirts this week with proceeds going in part to LGBTQ+ charities. The fashion house defended its decision to show in Saudi Arabia this week alongside Stella McCartney as “a way to encourage dialogue” and “build understanding.” It insisted its presence is not an endorsement of the Saudi regime. {The Guardian}

A closer look at Charvet after Matthieu Blazy’s Chanel collaboration

For Matthieu Blazy’s debut Chanel collection, he collaborated with Charvet on dress shirts retailing for $4,350. Charvet, the 187-year-old French shirtmaker, has a single location on the Place Vendôme and continues to sell its own custom shirts starting around just $600. Siblings Anne-Marie and Jean-Claude Colban still run the company their father, Denis, bought in 1964 from the Charvet family, and they’ve kept it a family business with no venture capital and no direct-to-consumer website. {Puck/paywalled}

Bangladesh garment factory fire kills 16

A fire on Tuesday at a garment factory in Bangladesh and an adjacent chemical warehouse killed at least 16 people and injured others, and the death toll could rise. The cause of the blaze wasn’t immediately known. The fire broke out at around midday on the third floor of the four-story factory in the Mirpur area of the capital Dhaka, before spreading to a chemical warehouse storing bleaching powder, plastic and hydrogen peroxide. {Reuters}

The sneaker silhouette is personalized by Jisoo, with star charms, representing her hand-drawn character Shumon, on the laces and the number 103 for her birthday on the label. LVMH sees 1% growth in third quarter

LVMH reported its third quarter results on Tuesday, which showed revenue of €58.1 billion ($67.5 billion) in the first nine months of 2025. With 1% organic growth, the third quarter saw an improvement across all business groups and all regions, with the exception of Europe. However, its fashion and leather goods category saw a 2% revenue decline. {LVMH}

RTFKT co-founder Benoît Pagotto dead at 41

Benoît Pagotto, the French tech entrepreneur who co-founded virtual sneaker and fashion platform RTFKT, has died at the age of 41. RTFKT formed in 2020 when Pagotto, Chris Le and Steven Vasilev came together with the idea of building a brand that would create and sell virtual sneakers. Nike acquired the brand for an undisclosed sum in 2021, and RTFKT shuttered last year. {Business of Fashion/paywalled}
