Kristen Stewart Takes Parisian Chic Very Literally

Kristen Stewart is a longtime Chanel ambassador, chosen by the late Karl Lagerfeld, and she’s someone that has managed to keep her own personal sense of style and spirit atop the label’s signature looks. Whether in Coco-esque tweed or sherbet pink under Virginie Viard, Stewart’s more free-spirited aesthetic has always shone through. The effortless beats of Parisian chic, too, speak to the actor and director’s style codes.

Photographed in Paris as she’s filming her latest movie Full Phil, Stewart donned the colors of the French flag. She wore a red velvet blazer over a loose white shirt and white tailored pants cinched with a red leather belt. On her feet, white low profile adidas sneakers with three blue and red stripes. The Love Lives Bleeding actor wore her hair up in a messy bun, having dyed her hair back dark from bleach blonde and a dalliance with Barbie pink ends. It was a cool, casual look that combined American ease with French sensibilities for an evening in Paris on set.

Stewart continues to film Full Phil, starring opposite Woody Harrelson (who plays her father), Emma Mackey, and Charlotte Le Bon. Directed by Quentin Dupieux, Stewart plays Madeleine, the daughter of “wealthy American industrialist” Philip Doom. He attempts to reconnect with her during a trip to Paris, but according to a synopsis, “Unfortunately, French cuisine, a 1950s horror film and an intrusive hotel employee disrupt the smooth running of their stay.”

Stewart, who is often styled by Tara Swennen, has expansive, yet well established dress codes. She might go bra-first on the red carpet with contrasting masculine slacks and braces, or lose the pants entirely with a penchant for lingerie as outerwear. In her most casual settings, easy denim, oversized bombers, and loose suiting is her vibe.

While Stewart is busy filming this next movie and receiving praise for her directorial debut The Chronology of Water, her next fashion move is anyone’s guess. With Matthieu Blazy’s new leadership at Chanel, it will be interesting to see how his vision of the French house rides in tandem with ambassadors like Kristen Stewart. Until then, she’s reveling in Paris.
