Dick’s Sporting Goods, Foot Locker to Hire 14,000 Workers Holiday 2025

Dick’s Sporting Goods and are getting ready for the holiday season by bolstering its staff by approximately 14,000 seasonal employees this year.

The retailer noted that it will host its eighth-annual “National Signing Day” on Wednesday, Oct. 22, marking the start of its push for holiday hiring. Over 9,100 employees will be hired to support Dick’s Sporting Goods, Dick’s House of Sport, and Public Lands locations, while over 500 additional teammates will be hired for Going, Going, Gone! locations nationwide, the company noted.

This number is up from last year’s hiring event, which sought to hire 8,000 seasonal employees.

And at Dick’s newly acquired Foot Locker business, the retail chain is slated to add approximately 4,750 employees across Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker, WSS and Champs store locations in North America this holiday season.

What’s more, as in previous years, all Dick’s and U.S. Foot Locker stores and distribution centers will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27. All stores will reopen the following day on Black Friday.

Dick’s noted that interested candidates can apply now by visiting dicks.com/jobs and searching for their nearest location to complete a seasonal job application, then visit their local Dick’s location on National Signing Day to interview and meet the team. Hiring will continue beyond that date until all seasonal positions are filled.

“The holidays are one of the most exciting times for our stores, and our seasonal [employees] bring incredible energy to serving our athletes and customers,” Julie Lodge-Jarrett, executive vice president and chief people, purpose and transformation officer at Dick’s Sporting Goods, said in a statement. “Their passion and enthusiasm make all the difference during the busiest shopping days of the year, and we’re thrilled to welcome thousands of new [employees] to help athletes find the perfect gifts this season.”

This comes nearly one month after Dick’s Sporting Goods opened the doors to its first House of Sport concept store in the New York City area.

Located inside the Newport Centre shopping mall in Jersey City, N.J., the 85,000-square-foot store is the retailer’s smallest House of Sport location, which are typically over 100,000-square-feet.

In August, the company reported net income in the second quarter of fiscal 2025 of $381 million, or $4.71 per share, compared with $362 million, or $4.37 per share, a year earlier.

Sales rose to $3.65 billion in Q2, up 5 percent from the $3.47 billion in the same period last year. Comparable-store sales were up 5 percent, beating estimates of 3.4 percent.

Earlier this month, Dick’s completed its $2.4 billion acquisition of Foot Locker. As a combined company, Dick’s will now operate more than 3,200 stores plus e-commerce and digital businesses across 20 countries in North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, plus a licensed store presence in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
