SLOANE HOME: Cabana Magazine is on the move, with plans to open its first seasonal store in London on Friday at 29 Sloane Street in Chelsea. The temporary store is the latest addition to an expanding retail portfolio and aims to bring the jet-setter world of Cabana to life.
The store, which spans 1,500 square feet, will be open from Friday until Dec. 31. It will offer Cabana’s home and lifestyle collections as well as the newly launched Cabana home fragrance collection, which features four scents.
In addition, there will be vintage furniture, decorative pieces, books and magazines, while trunk shows and events are planned for the coming months. Martina Mondadori, who cofounded Cabana in 2014, will be cutting the ribbon alongside Aerin Lauder during an event on Friday. Lauder will also be signing copies of her latest book, “Living With Flowers.”
The London opening is part of a wider rollout of physical stores that began when Cabana opened its flagship in Milan in April 2024. That store, at 8 Via Borgospesso, was designed by Mondadori and Cabana cofounder Christoph Radl.
The Milan store was conceived as an extension of Casa Cabana, Mondadori’s childhood home, which was decorated by Renzo Mongiardino. It reflects the colorful style of the magazine and features a sculptural installation using elements of the Cabana homeware collection.
At the time, Mondadori said she wanted Milan “to be a journey of discovery: a space in which to linger over beautifully handcrafted objects, browse our eclectic vintage finds or flip through a carefully curated selection of books.”
Earlier this year, Cabana popped up at the Printemps New York store and hosted local trunk-show events in Charleston, S.C., and Dallas.
Cabana designs an in-house collection of tableware and home accessories, and is also a serial collaborator. It has worked on lifestyle and fashion collaborations with brands including Destree, Antik Batik and The Colony Hotel Palm Beach to Tiffany & Co., Chaneli and Aerin.
