Takeaways from first half as Eagles hold a 14-6 lead over the Vikings



With the second half set to begin, we’re looking at takeaways and observations from the first half at US Bank Stadium.

Philadelphia allowed 177 yards on defense, and Jalen Hurts was sacked three times in the first half, but the Eagles made enough plays in the first 30 minutes to secure a 14-6 lead. Injuries again played a role, as Philadelphia had three players exit with injuries, most notably center Cam Jurgens and pass rusher Azeez Ojulari. Saquon Barkley

Barkley received touches on the first four plays and also had some more throughout the first half. Overall, Barkley had eight first-half carries for 30 yards and one catch for -2 yards.

Tank Bigsby on offense

Bigsby was demoted on special teams, but received one first-half carry for 11 yards.

Eagles first drive was not a three-and-out

Philadelphia entered the game with a league-leading 23 three-and-outs, but logged 12 plays on the first drive, eating up 8:01 of clock. Overall, Patullo’s offense had five first downs, was 0-5 on third downs, and 117 yards on 25 offensive plays.

A.J. Brown/DeVonta Smith

Brown had one catch for a massive 37-yard touchdown to give the Eagles an early lead. Overall, Brown had one catch, DeVonta Smith had four for 31 yards, and Goedert had two receptions for 13 yards.

Carson Wentz

The former Eagles No. 2 overall pick had some decent plays, but had an interception returned for a touchdown, and another ugly deep interception to Andrew Mukuba. Overall, Wentz was 11-19 passing for 162 yards, two interceptions, and a 46.3 QB Rating.

Nakobe Dean/Jihaad Campbell

During pregame warmups, Philadelphia showed Nakobe Dean at inside linebacker with Jihaad Campbell at the edge rusher position. The rookie spent the bulk of the first half as an edge rusher, logging one tackle. Dean had two tackles, while Zack Baun led the Eagles with six first-half tackles.

Cooper DeJean outside cornerback

DeJean has played on the outside in base coverages and made a spectacular play on Justin Jefferson to prevent a touchdown.
