The New York Landmarks Conservancy is gearing up for its annual Living Landmarks Celebration, scheduled for Nov. 5 at The Plaza, where Aerin Lauder will be celebrated as one of this year’s honorees.
Lauder is the granddaughter of the Estée Lauder Cos. founder, Estée Lauder, and the niece of the late beauty tycoon, Leonard Lauder. She’s the style and design director of Estée Lauder Re-Nutriv, as well as the founder of her own namesake lifestyle brand, which she launched in 2012. She also serves as a member of The Chairman’s Council and the elective trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, as well as a board member of the Foundation for Art and Preservation in Embassies, Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League, God’s Love We Deliver, The Boys’ Club of New York and a member of the International Council of the Museum of Modern Art.

“Aerin is a standout in business and philanthropy who encourages us all to look for beauty in the world,” Peg Breen, president of The New York Landmarks Conservancy, said in the official press release.
Lauder’s interest in beauty and design fueled the invention of Aerin, a furniture, fashion and home decor brand, and later, Aerin Beauty. While the skin care, makeup and fragrance subsidiary is licensed by Estée Lauder, Lauder independently owns Aerin LLC.
Aerin offers something for every generation, from Gen Alpha on up. In March, the brand partnered with Pottery Barn Teen to release a bespoke collection fit for high school or college students, following its earlier tableware collection launch with Williams Sonoma.

“Beauty is my heritage, but home and accessories are my passion,” she said in the press release. “There was an opportunity in the market for a lifestyle brand based on feminine, modern and effortless products with strong heritage and storytelling. I decided to launch Aerin and make the whole concept of beauty part of the way we live today.”
Lauder will be one of eight honorees this year, alongside Bonnie Comley and Stewart F. Lane, Mark Ruffalo, Darren Walker, Kenneth Lonergan and Cynthia Wainwright and Stephen Berger. A handful of former honorees will also participate in the event. Paul Goldberger and Audrey and Martin Gruss will be honorary co-chairs, while Stephen S. Lash will serve as the master of ceremonies for the night.
Lauder’s recognition comes just four months after her uncle, Leonard, died at age 92 and a few weeks after his memorial in New York City, where upward of 1,300 people across art, fashion and beauty gathered inside the Lincoln Center to celebrate his life and accomplishments.
