Olivia Culpo Teams Up with Naadam for Versatile Cashmere Capsule

Olivia Culpo, the entrepreneur, mom and style icon, is curating and co-creative directing her first cashmere collection in partnership with Naadam, the New York-based sustainable cashmere brand.

The 33-year-old Culpo collaborated closely with the brand to design a 14-piece Naadam x Olivia Culpo capsule that is deeply personal to her, reflecting her own multifaceted lifestyle.

Inspired by her recent journey into motherhood, she envisioned pieces that were timeless, luxurious and versatile that can take people from busy days to nights out. With a neutral and transitional color palette, Culpo designed women’s and men’s pieces that balance cozy layers, sleek staples and elevated silhouettes.

“I’ve always been a huge fan of what’s not only chic, but comfortable,” Culpo said in a telephone interview. “I’m also a fan of accessible price points because I want everybody to be able to feel great. So Naadam definitely fits both of those things. Their price point is amazing, and their clothes are not only chic but very comfortable, and just the kind of thing that you’ll keep going back to.”

Culpo said she knew what she wanted, and certain things were nonnegotiable. She said they created a 14-piece collection, so it was difficult to narrow it down. There are four men’s pieces and 10 pieces for women.

“I have always had a really clear point of view,” she said. “I knew exactly what I needed to have in the collection, and it’s both versatile and definitely the type of things you’ll keep going back for, both day and night, which is exactly what I wanted.”

Among the key pieces are an oversize V-neck, a cream cozy sweater and a jumpsuit that’s “so flattering and so comfortable. I just love that you can dress it up or dress it down. I love them because not only do you feel great in them, but they take the guesswork out of getting dressed. It’s easy.”

Culpo spoke about creating clothing that was effortless and elevated. “I like to be comfortable and more so now as a new mom [she had a baby in July], you want to be comfortable.” She said she wanted to design in neutral tones, which are very transitional for the fall and winter. “There are a lot of camels, a lot of black because again, as a new mom, I just feel like those are the colors that I go back to. I feel the most put together, the most refined and the most chic. Black is the most flattering.”

The collection includes three or four pant sets. “We have a really great sweat set for men and we have a women’s duster and cashmere pant combination. They’re low rise and very flattering on the body, and so comfortable. They’re also a great price point,” Culpo said.

Prices of the collection range from $138 to $448. The line is offered exclusively at Naadam’s website and Naadam stores. Women’s sizes range from XXS to XL, and 1X to 3X, while men’s goes from XS to XXL.

Everything is made in China, except for the women’s super luxe cashmere V-neck and the men’s luxe cashmere polo, which are both made in Nepal.

Culpo said she’s been working on the project since last May or June. When asked if it’s an ongoing collection, Culpo said it’s Naadam’s first designer relationship, so they’ll see how it sells. Culpo’s name will be on the label.

Sarah Sathaye, chief revenue officer of Naadam, said: “Naadam is seeing signs that this will be one of the strongest capsule launches we’re had. The customer demand based on just the preview posts and waitlist sign-ups has been outstanding. The product is perfectly timed for the season, and we expect strong selling even before the holiday peak begins.”

Naadam has been busy making connections and, on Thursday, revealed a licensing partnership with the National Football League, which will sell cashmere for men and women featuring team names.

Culpo said her dad loved cashmere and, when she was growing up, she would steal all of it. “I’ve been styling cashmere my entire life,” she quipped. Culpo said this is the first cashmere collection she’s designed. Culpo said she didn’t study fashion design in college, but is very passionate about it.

“It’s definitely a passion of mine. I try to find ways to make people feel great,” she said.

Culpo said they did a lot of work over Zoom since she’s based in Los Angeles and Naadam is in New York.

The line is geared for a woman or man who does it all, she said. “It’s for moms, it’s for the millions of women balancing things who still want to feel good in what they’re wearing. It’s also for the men in our lives,” she added.

Culpo said she’s working on several interior design projects and has a show on Netflix called “Next Gen Chef,” where 21 rising chefs vie to be crowned a generational talent and win $500,000. It is set at the Culinary Institute of America. She also has another fashion collaboration coming out in the summer.
