The 12 Best Garden Weddings in Vogue

Searching for garden weddings? An enchanting ceremony or reception amid an abundance of greenery is a fantasy for many: “The garden reconciles human art and wild nature, hard work and deep pleasure, spiritual practice and the material world. It is a magical place because it is not divided,” Sir Thomas More once wrote about the natural beauty of gardens.

Indeed, across the weddings published by Vogue, a garden has served as a perfect backdrop for many couples, from the grand landscaping of historic Lake Como villas and the grounds of English country estates to the intimate backyard of a family home.

Take Jasmine Tookes, who held an “enchanted garden” reception in Ecuador; or Anna Pops and Luke Stopford Sackville, whose welcome party was A Midsummer Night’s Dream-themed; or Henrietta Rix, who threw a classic English garden party. Some chose to wed in an urban oasis, while others found respite in the tropical flora of the jungle. Others wed among world-class botanical gardens: “I always loved the feel of European countryside weddings, and Bryan envisioned having an open air party with his family and friends under the stars,” co-host of CBS Mornings Adriana Diaz said about her and Bryan Smith’s wedding venue of the Chicago Botanic Garden. For others, an elevated garden center was the perfect choice: actors Bel Powley and Douglas Booth held her wedding at the famous Petersham Nurseries in London. “We loved the idea of the wedding feeling glamorous and chic, but grounded by the fact that everyone’s heels were in the mud!” Powley said.
