Luxury hotel merchandise — casually donned by the rich and famous, yet fervently acquired by the aspirational consumer as an IYKYK-status symbol — continues to be a hot commodity. Come the first Monday of May, one branded baseball cap will be crowned the most coveted merch of all — and it’s only available to those Met Gala attendees staying at The Mark Hotel.
For more than 10 years, the five-star boutique hotel has produced limited-edition versions of its beloved The Mark cap for a lucky 100 guests getting glammed up for the Met Gala. For this year’s star-studded event, The Mark’s washed canvas cap will be gifted in a black colorway, featuring the iconic “M” logo and hotel name at the front with “Met Gala 2025” embroidered in white on its side. According to a representative for The Mark Hotel, this collectible baseball hat will welcome Met Gala guests in their rooms, alongside the hotels’s plush bathrobes featuring the guest’s initials, Augustinus Bader skin care products, Don Julio tequila and Caviar Kaspia caviar pairings, as well as special goods from Edie Parker.
For each year’s Met, The Mark selects a unique colorway for its fashionable baseball caps, but for those who didn’t get the golden ticket to Monday’s Met extravaganza, the hotel’s shop sells a classic navy style with an orange-hued logo and a white version with black stitching.

Located just a few blocks from the Metropolitan Museum of Art on New York’s Upper East Side, The Mark Hotel has become widely known around the world as the place where photographers snap first looks of celebrities in their finest Met-themed garb departing from the hotel’s main entrance, serving as an unofficial red carpet before striking a pose on the steps of the Met. (Even Anna Wintour is known to stay at The Mark for the Met and has already been spotted outside the renowned hotel this weekend before Monday’s main event.)
Inside this safe haven for A-listers, the hotel’s staff ensures Met guests are perfectly catered to and cared for as the lobby scene turns into a pre-gala spectacle featuring the who’s who of the fashion and entertainment industry (and where WWD gets a first look at the attendees in their Met best).

In more recent years, the luxury hotel has rolled out an actual red carpet for Met Gala Monday with “M” logo-branded barricades to protect high-profile gala-goers from massive crowds of fans and paparazzi. By capitalizing on the media impact of the Met departures, The Mark’s simply elegant “M” logo, framed by an octagonal design, has become a well-known status symbol outside of upper echelon of society, which makes the hotel’s merchandise even more desirable for a subtle nod to luxurious living without an ostentatious design.

Though the Met might help drive foot traffic to The Mark, but it’s the luxury hotel’s five-star service with an elevated experience for the senses that leaves a mark — pun intended — on its visitors: the eye-catching Jacques Grange-design of the lobby’s signature striped black and white marble floor, accented with bold pops of color by way of velvet couch cushions and vibrant florals that compliment modern, sculptural decor; the heavenly aroma of the hotel’s custom “Jurassic Flower” scent created by perfumer extraordinaire, Frédéric Malle; the delectable taste of indulgent dishes at The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges and Caviar Kaspia, as well as the seafood delights of the newly opened The Mark Clam Bar. It’s quintessential New York.
