Will Indiana Fever star play back in Iowa today?

Caitlin Clark will be able to play under her retired jersey in front of her hometown fans on Sunday afternoon.

The Fever listed Clark, who missed Saturday’s preseason opener with a left leg injury, as available for Sunday’s game against the Brazilian National Team at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City. The game sold out in under 45 minutes when tickets went on sale in February, with Iowa fans eager to see their hometown star.

Clark described her injury as “a little bit of tightness” ahead of Saturday’s game against the Mystics and went through warmups as normal with no visible brace on her knee. She was ruled out of Saturday’s game, however, as a precaution following warmups.

Fever coach Stephanie White said it was out of an abundance of caution that Clark didn’t play Saturday, especially on a back-to-back in the preseason.

Clark was very active on the sidelines Saturday, too, jumping up and down with the team and jawing at the refs when she didn’t like some calls.

“I thought she was, she was really engaged. And I felt like at one point she wanted to go back and put her uniform on and come out and play,” White said postgame Saturday. “… She had a lot of progress in the last 24 hours, and that was our goal. Our goal is to see how she progresses every day, so we’ll see what happens and see how she feels after the workouts that she went through today, and then hopefully she’ll be ready tomorrow.”

Now, she’ll be ready to play in front of her hometown fans.
