Arne Slot is surprised Chelsea are not closer to Liverpool in the league

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has reacted to his team losing away against Chelsea in the Premier League yesterday afternoon.

The new comes after Chelsea beat Premier League winners Liverpool 3-1 at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon in what was a fantastic overall performance by The Blues.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea now looking at move for 6ft 4in France Olympic Team international defender!!

Cole Palmer was back in fine form for Chelsea and is one of the reasons that they put in such a good performance, with the stats proving this as well.

Palmer was also involved in Chelsea’s first goal of the game in the opening minutes, as well as some good work by Romeo Lavia and Pedro Neto to setup Enzo Fernandez to provide a lovely finish to get things going.

Best Chelsea performance of the season

In my opinion, it was the best overall performance under Maresca so far. I say that because it was a complete performance for Chelsea, defensively and in attack. They turned up, they fought, they were very organised and well-drilled, and they just let Liverpool control the game and went for the smash and grab.

A fine Chelsea performance yesterday for sure.

Slot reacts

As reported on the Premier League website, Slot is surprised Chelsea are not closer to Liverpool.

He said:

“Dominating ball possession is not what many teams do at Stamford Bridge because Chelsea are so comfortable on the ball. It was the opposite from the home game where they dominated possession and we won.

“Chelsea did well in both boxes. The margins are small when you play a team like Chelsea with so many quality players. At Anfield they were better than us so it was a complete surprise to me that we are now 18 points clear of them.”
