Last night, the first Monday in May ushered in fashion’s most-anticipated red carpet of the year: the Met Gala. Celebrating the 2025 theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” the red carpet was full of impeccably tailored suits, menswear looks paying homage to Black dandyism, and even a Rihanna pregnancy reveal in Marc Jacobs for good measure. While strong tailoring and suiting reigned supreme this year, the accessories — from layered, jewel-encrusted chains to oversized diamond broaches and even custom grills — delivered just as high of an impact.

But one understated accessory you most likely missed? A red carpet appearance of what’s slated to be the next must-have bag: the Marc Jacobs Micro Dual bag. Valentina Ferrer, who attended the Met Gala with J. Balvin in custom Marc Jacobs, was spotted carrying the brand’s Dual Bag in a black satin style that’s ideal for any cocktail party, wedding, or special night out. And unlike the luxurious jewelry that made its way up the iconic Met steps, you can buy this Marc Jacobs bag for $250.

The Satin Micro Dual bag, which first made its red carpet debut at the 2024 Met Gala, is a compact version of the brand’s best-selling Dual bag. The sleek style features sculptural, statement-making gold hardware and a silhouette that can be carried as a clutch or top-handle bag, depending on your look. Elevating it for this year’s Met Gala, Ferrer paired hers with a sparkling Tiffany broach, which she showcased on her Instagram Stories.

Following the event, another Dual bag made an appearance at the Met Gala afterparties on the arm of Tracee Ellis Ross. The actress, who stunned in a voluminous, pink satin Marc Jacobs look earlier in the night, carried the brand’s Mini Dual Bag in white, which retails for $350, to the official afterparty. The Dual bag is available in Micro, Mini, and Large sizes as well as in a range of styles, further proving its versatility and staying power.

These Dual Bag red carpet sightings weren’t just a coincidence, though. Just ahead of the Met Gala, Marc Jacobs debuted its Pre-Fall 2025 campaign starring Doja Cat, unveiling the latest Dual bag collection. The photo and video campaign, which was set to the backdrop of an upcoming, unreleased Doja Cat track, “Jealous Type,” featured the performer showcasing a range of the new Dual Bag offerings.

The Doja Cat-approved collection includes a range of new Dual Bag styles crafted in luxuriously quilted leather, available in classic black, Barbie pink, and an on-trend, Y2K-inspired denim style. Offered in Micro, Mini, and Large sizes, the bags range from $250 – $550 and are all available to shop online now. With its growing star power, versatility, and an understated yet elegant design, the Dual is well on its way to It-bag status.
