Not to give “I’m not like the other girls” energy, but I truly mean it when I say that celebrity fashion hardly, if ever, influences my closet. (If it did, I’d be in massive credit card debt from Rihanna’s off-duty style alone.) 

So you can see why it was a big deal when I decided to make my newest wardrobe addition, thanks to icon Chloë Sevigny. Over the past few months, while scrolling through daily celebrity street style photos, I couldn’t help but notice the chic pair of chunky, lace-up ballerina sneakers Sevigny repeatedly wore to stroll through New York City. Through deep investigation (read: a quick Instagram search), I learned they were Ecco Biom C-Trails.

As an avid lover of both ballet flats and sneakers, I quickly added these best-of-both-worlds hybrid shoes to my shopping wishlist. 

I don’t know whether to call it luck or fate when the brand unexpectedly popped up in my inbox offering to gift me a pair of the very shoes haunting my dreams. All I knew was this was clearly a sign that I just had to own them.

I’ve now had this ballet flat-sneaker hybrid in my shoe rotation for weeks, but truthfully, I can’t call it much of a rotation, given I wear them literally anytime possible. First and foremost, they’re functional, with highly padded insoles that give my comfiest kicks a run for their money. I wore them for hours straight while spending a night on the town with my friends, and suffered no painful blisters or post-morning aches.

Style-wise, Ecco’s ballet sneakers are both fashion-forward and versatile: While the chunky, cutout outsole offers that cool edge, the silhouette is still subdued enough to effortlessly anchor most of my outfits, regardless of location or dress code.

I’m so invested in these, I’m highly considering purchasing more pairs in different colorways ahead of the summer season. And for a reasonable $250 (and less), it shouldn’t hit my bank account too hard.
