Temptation Vacation is set to release its first sneaker collaboration later this month, partnering with Asics on an updated take of the GEL-DS Trainer 14 inspired by the natural beauty of Australia. The collaboration explores the blurred lines between work and rest, and introduces a new silhouette grounded in both ease and technical comfort.

Founded in 2020 by Ed Hatcher and Grace Olivia Roberts, Temptation Vacation has long embraced the idea that a vacation isn’t just a destination, but rather a state of mind. “The mix of comfort and fun Asics brings to footwear perfectly suits our styles,” Hatcher and Roberts said in a statement. “Something you can wear for a cruisy day, or as a statement piece, but always in comfort. Our collaboration is an authentic extension of this.”

The GEL-DS Trainer 14 arrives in a palette inspired by Australia’s coastline. The upper features sandy, earthy tones throughout the mesh, laces and quarter panel, with accents of forest green that reference the country’s vast bush landscapes. A blue midsole and inner sole draw from the surrounding sea. Materials like canvas and leather are used in tandem, offering a textural contrast that nods to the diversity of vacation experiences found across Australian terrain.

Although the capsule represents Temptation Vacation’s first foray into footwear, Asics has long partnered with Australian labels. In 2022, P.E Nation joined forces with the brand on a GEL-1130 rendered in cream and black, punctuated by fluorescent accents and utilitarian rigging. Early in 2024, Asics worked with Sportscraft and Speedo to outfit Team Australia’s Olympic and Paralympic contingents, applying the national green-and-gold palette alongside Indigenous design motifs across uniforms and accessories.

The Temptation Vacation x GEL-DS Trainer 14 will be available May 25 through Temptation Vacation, Asics Australia and select retailers for $220 AUD. European sizing ranges from 35 to 41. An exclusive apparel capsule will launch alongside the sneaker, available only through Temptation Vacation. A global release will follow on May 30 at select retailers, including Kith, Dover Street Market and End.
