Exciting Caitlin Clark Announcement Made After Fever’s Win Over Sky

The Indiana Fever had their way with the Chicago Sky in their 93-58 season-opening win at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday.

Reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year Caitlin Clark put up a game-high 20 points along with 10 rebounds and 10 assists for the third triple-double of her career.

Prized offseason additions Natasha Howard (15 points, five rebounds, three steals, two assists) and DeWanna Bonner (seven points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals) also chipped in offensively while Aliyah Boston had a monster game with 19 points and 13 rebounds.

Clark became the fastest player in WNBA history to record three triple-doubles (41 games), and the first player to record 20 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, four blocks, and two steals in a game.

And while Clark had plenty to celebrate on Saturday following Indiana’s blowout win, she also had some exciting news to look forward to the following day involving the Indy 500, according to Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files.

“Caitlin Clark and head coach Stephanie White are scheduled to wave the green flag for practice at 1 ET at IMS on Sunday. Other members of the team will be there as well,” Agness wrote on X.

The news generated some buzz on social media.

Fans had been wondering for months if Clark would somehow be involved with the Indy 500 after teammate Lexie Hull raised the flag for the NTT IndyCar Series at Indianapolis Motor Speedway back in February.

“Will Indy 500 fumble a Caitlin Clark flag waver moment????? They had Lexie raise the IndyCar flag,” one fan asked.

“Cue the ‘Caitlin Clark 500 race day participation’ talk. Rather than playing across the country on the eve of the Indy 500, as she did earlier this year, the Fever play at home that Saturday & are off until a road game the following Wednesday,” another fan stated.

“Wonder if Gainbridge had consultations with the W about keeping her in Indy for race weekend?” questioned one user.

“Clark should be driving the pace car but since the Speedway already screwed that choice up she better be waving the green flag,” another user commented.

The Indy 500 takes place on Sunday, May 25, but there are several practice sessions scheduled through Monday as well as a qualifying session on Sunday.
