Justin and Hailey Bieber Had a Cozy, Extremely Canadian Date Night Out at a Toronto Maple Leafs Game

Every celebrity couple has their own date-night style. Some like to slyly bait the paparazzi at a romantic restaurant, some prefer to get a casual workout in while carrying sex benches into their home (Ashley Benson and Cara Delevingne, I miss your love!), and some—like Justin and Hailey Bieber—prefer to keep things as Canadian as possible.

That’s exactly what the star-for-star couple did on Sunday, May 18, snuggling up to each other in the stands at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena while watching the Toronto Maple Leafs take on the Florida Panthers in game 7 of the NHL Eastern Conference semifinals.

My best friend in the world happens to hail from Justin Bieber’s relatively small hometown of London, Ontario, so I think I have a general read on some of the culture (Tim Horton’s, milk in bags, calling the electric bill “the hydro bill,” things of that nature)—and I also think I understand just how meaningful it can be for an Ontario boy to take his Arizona-born wife to a hockey game; I’m also impressed by Hailey Bieber’s commitment in wearing a blue Leafs jacket to show her support for her husband’s favorite team.

Justin himself went ultra-snuggly for the occasion, sporting a fluffy bucket hat that looks like something a professional ice dancer might wear while traveling to the rink for practice on a cold day. He also shared grinning Instagram selfies during the game with the caption “I’m a slut for these boys,” which…hell yeah. We need more cishet men who proudly wear the label of “sports slut”! Even though the Leafs ultimately lost to the Panthers 1-6, it appears the Biebers’ passion for gonzo date-night outfits can’t be dampened, even by a less-than-ideal sports outcome. Go, Leafs!
