The Green Bay Packers finally received their full 17-game regular season schedule for 2025 last week. Matt LaFleur’s team will open with home games against the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders before finishing on the road for four of the final six games, including a season finale in Minneapolis against the Vikings.
Facing the NFC East and AFC North in the same season ensured plenty of intriguing matchups for the Packers, who are facing a third-place schedule but have no shortage of big games ahead. Last year, the NFC East and AFC North produced four playoff teams, including the Super Bowl champion and two conference title game participants, plus the NFL’s Offensive Player of the Year, Offensive Rookie of the Year and Comeback Player of the Year.
So, what’s the most intriguing game on Green Bay’s schedule? The staff at Packers Wire made their picks:
This one is being majorly slept on in terms of intrigue. Packers-Ravens has all the epic matchup variables. It’s a big game at Lambeau Field in late December, and a visit from two-time MVP Lamar Jackson and two-time rushing champ Derrick Henry. Like the Packers, the Ravens have been to the postseason during five of the last six years but haven’t broken through to the Super Bowl. While an NFC vs. AFC matchup, the game will have big playoff ramifications ahead of the season finale. And though we don’t know the time or date of the game, it’s possible — even probable, given the matchup — that it’ll be in primetime on a big stage. During a Packers season with so many intriguing games on the schedule, a visit from the Ravens might top the list given the combination of setting, stars and stakes.
This is one of those games you circle before the season starts. Not only did Philadelphia beat Green Bay in last year’s opener, they also ended the Packers’ season in the Wild Card round. While Green Bay won 11 games in 2024, they struggled against playoff-caliber opponents—especially in the NFC. The Eagles enter 2025 looking to defend their crown, and the Packers have high aspirations of their own. If Green Bay wants to prove it belongs among the NFC’s elite, there’s no better stage than Monday Night Football against the defending champs.
Brennen Rupp: Week 1 vs. Detroit Lions
It’s not how you start. It’s how you finish. Nobody will remember the Packers losing the season opener if they go 4-0 in December and win a playoff game or two. But that Week 1 matchup at home against the Detroit Lions will be a great opportunity to open the season on a high note after they were swept by the Lions last season and went 1-5 in the division. The Lions have won three straight games at Lambeau Field and have won six of the last seven matchups. This will be a great opportunity for the Packers to get off and running and stop the current slide against the Lions.
Mark Oldacres: Week 17 vs. Baltimore Ravens
The Packers are yet to face two-time MVP Lamar Jackson since he entered the league, as he missed Green Bay’s last matchup with Baltimore in 2021. Jackson and the Ravens will present a daunting challenge for the Packers’ run defense, and the timing and setting of the game, week 17 at a frigid Lambeau Field, add the ingredients to make it a crucial and fascinating battle with the playoffs looming.
Honorable mentions
Week 2 vs. Commanders: Jayden Daniels is a rising star, and the Commanders made a surprise run to the NFC title game last season. The Packers will get them at home on a short week in Week 2.
Week 6 vs. Bengals: Cincinnati missed the playoffs despite winning its last five games to end last year. Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase will be a terrific test for the Packers coming out of the Week 5 bye.
Week 13 at Lions: The Packers are playing on Thanksgiving for the third straight season. The last time they beat the Lions? On Thanksgiving Day in 2023.
Week 18 at Vikings: The season finale will almost certainly mean a lot for both teams. The Vikings are loaded, but can J.J. McCarthy hit the ground running? U.S. Bank Stadium will be rocking for this one.
Week 8 at Steelers: Two of the most highly respected franchises playing in primetime. And the Aaron Rodgers storyline still hangs in the balance.
