Jalen Hurts Reiterates Stance On Trump White House Visit

Jalen Hurts made his statement about visiting the White House clear — and, true to form, like he does in the pocket, he’s standing firm and not backing down from his position.

The Houston native and revered quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles went viral in April after a reporter asked whether he planned to make the ceremonial trip to Washington, D.C., following his team’s Super Bowl win.

Hurts merely gave a simple “Ummmmm” as a response, paired with a look that said a thousand words.

Now, on Tuesday, Hurts doubled down during a press conference held at the Eagles’ facility.

“What happened in the decision to not go to the White House?” one reporter asked.

Hurts delivered a three-word answer that echoed louder than his home stadium on fourth down: “I wasn’t available.”

He followed up with, “That’s not pertinent,” though it remained unclear whether he was referencing the question or subtly reinforcing his decision to opt out of what many still consider a time-honored tradition for Super Bowl champions.

“Everyone who went and was available, they seemed to enjoy themselves,” Hurts added.

On April 28, when the Eagles paid a visit to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hurts wasn’t the only player missing from the lineup. According to the attendee list shared that day, the following players also didn’t suit up for the occasion: A.J. Brown, Jordan Davis, DeVonta Smith, Quinyon Mitchell, Jalen Carter, Brandon Graham, Nolan Smith, Zack Baun, Nakobe Dean, CJ Gardner Johnson and Darius Slay.
