Maybe there actually is something to Jalen Ramsey’s recent show of respect to Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero.
On Thursday, NFL Network national reporter Cameron Wolfe spoke about the deteriorating dynamic between the Miami Dolphins and their three-time All-Pro cornerback. And according to Wolfe, the Dolphins seem more than prepared to move on from Ramsey.
“This isn’t about a guy who wants more money, or a guy who can’t play anymore,” he stated. “This is just a situation where relationships are hard and the relationship between the Dolphins and Ramsey has essentially run out. I expect him to get traded at some point in June or July.
“They have talked to a lot of teams. I’m told the Dolphins are aware of teams that Ramsey would be interested in. We’ve heard the [Los Angeles] Rams and their coaching, and GM, staff talk and rave about Jalen Ramsey. There’s other places where he has had coaches he has loved to play for in the past, whether it be Raheem Morris in Atlanta or Ejiro Evero in Carolina.
“We’ll kinda see how the money factors in—that’s gonna be a big part of it. But for the Dolphins, they’re already planning to move on.”
Ramsey recently caught the attention of more than a few Panthers fans this past weekend, when he posted the following about their team’s defensive coordinator on Twitter/X . . .
As Wolfe noted, Miami may look to ship Ramsey away in the coming weeks. The Dolphins, according to Spotrac, could save approximately $5.9 million in salary cap space for 2025 if they move Ramsey and designate the transaction as a post-June 1 trade.
The numbers for the Panthers, however, may be a bit more complicated—especially after the money they just devoted to the cornerback position. Carolina not only extended Pro Bowler Jaycee Horn on a four-year, $100 million deal this offseason, but they also re-signed fellow starter Mike Jackson to a two-year, $14.5 million agreement.
Ramsey, who will turn 31 years old in October, has four seasons remaining on his contract. The pact has a cap hit of $16.6 million 2025, $25 million in 2026, $26.8 million in 2027 and $36.1 million in 2028.
